Our Kenneth Cole headquarters is a treasure trove of vintage shoe memorabilia. The walls are covered in old black-and-white photos, there are molds and models from past centuries, and there’s a cache of handcrafted tools that, depending on one’s perspective, are either very cool or very scary. But all of this pales in comparison to the crown jewel housed in Kenneth’s office. There, in a place of honor behind his desk, sits an antique shoe repair stand (circa 1880) purchased from L’Eclaireur, one of his favorite Paris shops. Replete with more of the very cool/very scary tools, tiny, perfectly cobbled children’s booties, and a plaque with the original (French) owner’s logo, the work station is daily a reminder of what being in the footwear business used to mean.
